Timing is Everything...
Magically Sybil Hill Carter and Ingrid Dee Magidson opened the doors to "Gallery 101" on a beautiful Summer day June 6, 2021. Honoring both their art careers and their devoted father, Irving Hill. Irv was an avid lover of art and nature; a constant influence on both Sybil and Ingrid. So when this beautiful space became available on the Fryingpan River in Basalt, they could not think of a more appropriate way to celebrate Art, Family, Life, and their Father's Creed "There is only one success...to be able to spend life in your way."
Sybil and Ingrid's art careers have been quite successful here in the Valley as well as throughout the world. Both share a similar passion for creating techniques using multiple layers. While supporting each other, each goes it alone in their home studios creating unique, beautiful, and inspiring art.
Ingrid is known for her layered images of Renaissance and Baroque figures. Her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in New York, Gstaad, Switzerland, France, Mexico City, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Laguna Beach, Aspen, and Vail. Two years ago, she installed a monumental outdoor work in the public courtyard of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in San Francisco.
Sybil is known for pushing artistic boundaries. She is acclaimed by collectors and galleries alike. During the early part of her long career, she was most recognized for her large horse and American flag paintings and her donations to foundations such as Bridging Bionics, Aspen Animal Shelter, and Action in Africa. She is now creating abstracts using inks and resin reminiscent of nature in color and intensity.
Sybil and Ingrid's new gallery is situated on the lower level of the Riverwalk building in Basalt facing the river (behind Taylor Creek Fly Shop).

"Creating from home...
I feel there is a certain wisdom in being home... creating in my studio. The views from my windows that look out past my easel to the garden and of coarse my loyal canines, Buddha and Lizzy." Sybil
